How can alginate as a biomaterial
symbolize and embody interdependence in
both cultural and ecological contexts?
Algea Threads
This was my first attempt at addressing social issues through biomaterials. The project has two parts:
- Creating an interactive tray with alginate to foster empathy between Israelis and Palestinians.
- Designing alginate-based bioplastic wearables with dinoflagellates to explore the connection between humans and nature.
Although the results didn’t meet expectations, I’m continuing the material experimentation process and plan to conduct further testing
to refine the outcomes.
