Plastic Pulse
serves as a vibrant billboard for Wonderfruit and its partners, while also promoting sustainability through communal recycling experiences. The installation is a strikingly abstract jellyfish, symbolizing the consequences of plastic waste in our oceans. It highlights how marine life, such as turtles, often mistake plastic for jellyfish, leading to unfortunate consequences when they ingest it. The translucent, biodegradable latex body of the installation gently undulates in the breeze inside a recycled fishnet, and it illuminates from within, casting a soft, otherworldly glow that attracts the Wonderers from afar. As Wonderers watch their discarded cans float and mingle with contributions from others, a compelling image of our collective environmental impact takes shape, serving as a poignant reminder.
Wonderers can actively engage with this installation by depositing empty water, beer, or soda cans into designated plastic pouches within the installation's ground area, where the cans will join the floating ensemble as they are filled with helium and float upwards, prompting reflection on their environmental impact.
This dynamic and interactive art piece serves as a powerful reminder of our collective impact on the environment, fostering communal responsibility and environmental awareness while encouraging individuals to examine their carbon footprint.
