Summer Workshop with oio.school

This past year, I felt the need for a holiday but also wanted to learn something new. That’s what led me to join a one-week workshop on Interactive Technologies and Artificial Intelligence with oio.scool by oio.studio. The experience turned out to be everything I had hoped for—and so much more.

Pre-Workshop

Before enrolling, I submitted my entry for their “golden ticket” challenge, which offered a chance to win a free spot in the program. The prompt was simple: create something using a Google Spreadsheet. I embraced the medium’s rules and grids, designing an endlessly repeatable pattern within the spreadsheet itself. While my submission didn’t win, I decided to attend anyway—and I have no regrets.

  
The Workshop

The video below from oio.scool offers a glimpse into the incredible experience we had during the workshop. Despite most of us having little to no background in coding or AI, we created impressive projects in just three and a half days—all while enjoying time for group activities and connection.

I was amazed by how productive and refreshing the process was, especially coming from architecture school, where late nights are the norm. Beyond the skills I gained, I felt deeply inspired by the curiosity and passion of everyone there—like finding my soul tribe.



What We Made

In just a few days, we explored the theme of "Heat" through interactive technologies and AI, creating diverse and imaginative projects. These ranged from an interactive game for sharing cultural rituals around heat to speculative futures of heat-adapted crops generated with image recognition. Other projects included a heat-detecting pathfinder for finding shady walking routes, a mysterious AI-driven game to identify "hot" suspects, generative soundscapes for storytelling, and a speculative video questioning AI’s intelligence and physical limitations.
