Shutesbury Public Library Groundbreaking with OEA
This was my first groundbreaking ceremony, and I couldn’t help but feel excited and happy to see so many residents come together to celebrate. Growing up in Thailand, this project has opened my eyes in so many ways. Public libraries were almost non-existent back home—I honestly can’t remember visiting one as a child.
What struck me most about this experience was how much the community was involved. Even though Thailand is a communal society, I don’t recall public projects being as open or transparent as they are here. Seeing residents share their thoughts and follow the process every step of the way has been inspiring. That said, I might have missed these things as a kid, so maybe my perspective is a bit limited.
Being part of designing this library—a place for learning, connection, and community—has been such an honor.
